Student loan - is there any way to "settle" a student loan??

my student loan is current %26amp; up to date on being paid, but it's so much money (about $300 or more a month - it fluctuates because it's an adjustable interest rate) and i am having some money trouble right now and can't really afford it.. will they typically let me off on the payments for a few months without hitting my credit if i call them and speak with them about it??

Student loan - is there any way to "settle" a student loan??
You should definitely contact the lender if you think you will miss a payment or a few. If it's through a private lender, you probably won't get the same breaks as federal and state student loans. Sometimes they let you defer payments for a time period if you are unemployed or not making enough money to make full payments. This would not affect your credit. If you just don't make the payment(s), and don't contact the lender, then you will definitely see dings in your credit report.
Reply:If it is a Student Loan you may qualify for a Deferment or Forbearance. A Deferment is where you don't have to make any payments for a given amount of time, this amount is determined by your situation. It does not make the debt go away, it just delays when you have to pay on the loan. A Forbearance is where you pay a limited amount such as interest only, again for a given period of time. Both of these have different qualifications, but you should definitely talk to your lender and see if you do qualify for one of these programs. The worst thing you can do is just to stop paying on the loans and having it go into default.

Student visa to UNITED KINGDOM?

are there any students who came to the UK on a student visa? could you please tell me the whole procedure at the embassy in your homecountry....do you have to have a specific saved amount in your bank...does it matter how much the course cost? what do they ask at the interview when you apply for the visa thank you

Student visa to UNITED KINGDOM?
You need a letter from a recognised college/school/university in UK proving that you have been offered a place.

You need to be able to show (when you apply for your visa and have an interview), that:

1. You can afford the course and living expenses. (This may include proof of your/your parents regular income as well as savings).

2. You have no intention of overstaying or seeking residence and becoming a burden on state funds

3. That you are of good character and clean record

4. That you understand the course you are registered for and convince the Entry Clearance Officer at the Embassy that you are capable and willing to attend and successfully complete the course.

You should allow a LONG time for the whole process. In many countries, it takes 4-6 months to process and obtain a visa (though it could be considerably less).

If you applied to your institution through an agent, I recommend you ask them to guide you through the process. British Immigration 'Services', like those of the US and other countries in my experience, tend to be inefficient and rude and treat all applicants as if they were scum. (presumably because Governements know only too well that foreigners cannot vote!)

Good luck, stick with it and you'll get your visa. Just try not to get too frustrated!

Whenever i search it comes like private pilot license courses but i want student pilot license course. Pls help me out!!

Student pilot license in usa?
Well, the private pilot course is what you want, actually. You are a student pilot aiming to get your private pilot license. So, any place that gives flying lessons, like your local airport, will do! Search the net for this information. Type Maryland pilot school, or Maryland flight school into yahoo. teachmetofly.com is a place here in Ohio where I fly on the weekends. They can set you up in a place to live while you train for your private license and/or advanced ratings! Tell them Ed the Engineer sent you :)

Student visa extension and NI number.?

I am on a student visa and got a job with a company who always made me do more than the 20 hours a week for students.I stopped working with them since May 2007.My visa expires in December. Can the past records on my NI affect my visa extension?

Student visa extension and NI number.?
There is an organisation which used to be called Immigrants Advisory Service which can answer questions like these. You can still find them under this name in Yahoo search, which called up this website: http://www.ramproject.org.uk/imm_ad_ser....

Although in theory the Home Office can access NI and tax records to check things like that, they probably will not. The NI amount does not show how many hours you worked because it is related only to how much you earned. And since you are not working now, they are unlikely to bother about it. The UK financial year starts on April 6th, so your current year's NI record will only be April-May. The main thing is to get your visa extension application in, with the right fee and all the evidence you need - study place, good attendance record, exams you intend to take, funds to support yourself and what you will do afterwards (return to home country). Don't plan any overseas trips for at least two months after you apply - it takes ages, and while it is waiting to be processed, it will be buried where they cannot access it to speed it up.

Should I cancel my Student Credit Card ? Need Advice !?

Hi all, I have VISA student credit card that I had since my sophmore year in college which is 7 years ago. They started me out with $500 initially and now my credit line slowly increased over the years to $8500. I dont have a balance on it as i only charge my $35 monthly gym membership on it and pay off when bill comes.

I have another Credit card which is another VISA but it is a platinum with $20,000 credit line with $800 a balance. I only have 2 credit cards and they both are VISA, Im thinking about applying for a Master Card and cancel my VISA Student credit card. Will canceling the student credit card hurt me or not canceling it will help my credit as I ahve had this card for 7 years and NEVER once late payment. My credit score is 776 and I'm just trying to do my best to keep it in good shape. Please let me know if I should keep the Student Credit Card or Cancel Iit. Thanks for all your advice in advance.

PS: i heard it is good to have a Visa and a MasterCard for your credit?

Should I cancel my Student Credit Card ? Need Advice !?
Whatever you do, DON'T cancel the card. It will automatically drop your credit history. Some say it's okay, but it isn't.

What happens is it "un-ages" your history file. Since you never had a late payment, you always want that on your file.

Most people should have 2-3 cards. One with a high limit for emergencies and business expenses on trips. One with a low limit for normal monthly expenditures which they pay off easily every month. And a third for whatever they deem appropriate as long as they can manage it in a responsible way.

From what you've said, you have no problem with the responsibility, so don't ruin a perfectly good credit rating by killing your history, which is what creditors look at more than anything else.
Reply:You can visit http://www.debteraserzone.com and find very useful tips and several articles on credit card related matters. Report It

Reply:A credit score of 776 is EXCELLENT! Keep the card. In fact, I'd suggest calling into customer service and inquire about a Reward's Card. Most institutions now have airline, merchandise, auto or some other rewards based card. Keep in mind, you might have to pay an annual fee depending on the type of reward card. There are some reward cards that come with annual fee.

Great job on maintaining your credit score.
Reply:I would keep it and try for the master card, now dont start using both just becasue you have more line open. Keep on, the student visa looked up somewere and use it only for life or death, something happens at least you have a way out. Now for the new maserscard just use it for the gym memeber ship. Keep doint what your doing dont go spending crazy.
Reply:Go with what credit cards give you the best interest rate. Your credit score is excellent already, unless you start missing payments you should be fine. You score also goes down when your credit is checked, ie. new card, loan, or just checking the score. Again, unless you changing cards a couple times a year your good.
Reply:One thing that helps your credit is the length of time you've had credit. Since that's probably one of your oldest sources, yes, it could hurt your credit to cancel it. It also helps not to run high balances which you don't. My advice, is to ask VISA to lower your limit to $250-500 if you only use it for your gym membership and then put it away. You'll still have the length on there and you won't be going over the percentage to hurt your credit. Credit card companies love increasing your limits to encourage you to spend more. You can ask them to lower your limits.
Reply:Dont cancel your credit card to get another one. When you cancel a credit card, they will eventually( after 7 years or so)take that off your credit report and you will lose all that good credit history. When you open a new credit file (get a new credit card) your credit score goes down for at least 6 months while you establish credit with that card. If you do open a new account and close that old one, expect to not have a 776 credit score again for another 2 years.

about 2 years ago i had a credit score of 680.(bankrupcy and a judgement made it so low) I only had 2 credit cards. I got a third credit card and my mid score went to 610 just like that! My score is now up to 708 now after 2 years. My oldest card only has a 500 dollar limit and i never use it except to pay the 40 dollar per year fee. I would rather pay that fee than get rid of it and risk having my score go down. My other cards have over 10,000 limit and are the ones i use all the time, but like you i pay it off when the bill comes.

You have a 776 score. Dont mess it up as its really hard to get that high of a score. You are in the top credit rating to where you are suppose to get the best rates for home purchases, business loans and all that. Keep the student card and keep on doing what you are doing. If it aint broke, dont fix it. :)
Reply:I don't think it matters to your credit score if you have 2 Visas or one Visa and one MC.

What can affect your credit score is your available credit. Why in the world do you need 28,000 in credit if you carry balances the total less than 1,000? A bank could see that you have the potential to run up 27 grand in additional debt and reject you because of that. I'd close one of those cards. Transfer the gym membership or the balance to the one you will keep open.

Student loan forgiveness?

Is there student loan forgiveness programs for clergy? They often work in poor areas and do alot of community service. My friend is a pastor and she really works hard in a poor town and even started a food and clothing bank for the local families. She also is qualified and gives free counseling to those who need it and can't pay for it. Unforthunately most of her paycheck goes to student loans and leaves her with barely anything. Does anyone out there have any advice or ideas. Thanks!

Student loan forgiveness?
No, there are none out there specifically for members of the clergy. However, there are programs out there that will forgive a part of student loans in exchange for volunteer service in the local community. Another idea might be to consolidate the student loans together and extend the payment period which can lower the loan payment amounts. I will include some resources which should help. Good luck!
Reply:For God all is possible, you can!! I found interesting information about your answer, college loans with low interests, scholarships, college grants here. Goodhttp://all-student-loan-consolidation.bl... luck!

Student loans...which one would be best?

My husband was just accepted into college. We got financial aid that covered half of it(about 5,000$) but we dont know how to get the other half. He doesnt qualify for grants or scholarships beacuse its only a 6 month certificate program. We could get a student loan from the school to cover the rest of the program, but it wont cover any outside expenses. Not even ones related to the program. Should he just go with the student loan from the school or try for one with an outside lender? He doesnt have good credit and I dont have any credit and our family isnt willing to cosign for us. What would be the best way to get the loan without a cosigner? Where would be the best place to get one? Should I try a bank or a company like Sallie Mae?

Student loans...which one would be best?
Aww..Im sorry to hear that. I know, there are many ppl who cant pay for it and Im sorry. I think you should try to find a bank and get the money. I know it isnt much of a good answer but, good luck on finding ur loans =] ^^
Reply:Go with the loans with the school...those are federal. For a private loan through a student loan lender its strictly based off creditworthy borrowers...u might have better luck with a bank for additional loans.

Are these (finally) some student activists/protestors we can agree with for a change?

Usually when you hear the term "student activist" images of long-haired, unshaven dopeheads or shrill feminazis come to mind. However, I was pleasently surprised to find that not ALL student protestors are USA-hating traitors:

Wednesday, October 24, 2007

College students across the country have been strapping empty holsters around their waists this week to protest laws that prohibit concealed weapons on campus, citing concerns over campus shootings.

"People who would otherwise be able to defend themselves are left defenseless when on campus," said Ethan Bratt, a graduate student wearing an empty holster this week on the campus of Seattle Pacific University.

College campuses are notorious bastions of anti-American leftwing rhetoric. These youth have chosen to think for themselves, rather than accept their professors non-sensisical anti-gun bloviations. It fills my heart with pride that there so many patriotic youth today

Are these (finally) some student activists/protestors we can agree with for a change?
Amen to that. Maybe there still is hope for the next generation of Americans!
Reply:Yup. We are at a point where conservatives are no longer allowing lefties to run all over us.
Reply:Thats cool wish I was back on campus
Reply:Give me a break. Thats really all I have to say.
Reply:Every protester thinks for themselves, marxist. Personally I'm glad to see these protesters just like any others. However don't mistake the campus law for u.s. law. Even though I own a registered gun, I'm certainly not allowed to bring it to work--that's the employer's rules. If I were in a position to decide, I would have to think long and hard about allowing guns on campus.
Reply:It's good to see college students that are aware of what the Constitution and the Founders espoused.
Reply:they have every right to protest...

but a lot of people running around with guns isn't the answer... I dont' think...

I'm waiting on on of the few campuses that allow guns to have a gunman... then 10 other people pull out their guns to defend themselves in a crowded classroom... 11 people shooting in a crowded classroom under extreme pressure... how many dead bodies would that lead to?
Reply:You mean the dozens of little wingnuts that aren't in Bob Jones U.?

yawn...........

Wingers smell like dirty feet....
Reply:It is about time people start to open their eyes and dismiss the idiotic anti gun rhetoric..Our founding fathers considered the right to bear arms for personal protection SO IMPORTANT that they made it the second amendment to our Constitution...I personally think its EVERY law abiding, mentally competent citizens obligation to be well trained and armed...gun laws have done NOTHING but disarm those who listen to the law, while the criminal...you know, the ones who break laws as a way of life...they just go buy any gun they want from the black market...I'm hoping to someday see a Second Amendment appreciation day..one day a year where all people who support the second amendment get out and practice, have safety classes..have gun shows.....the sight of millions of Americans enjoying the day and practicing with their weapons would just give the libs chills....
Reply:Where was this photo taken, University of Dodge City??
Reply:Excellent news, as good as the news about the students organizing "Anti-Islamofascism Week across the nation on college campuses. They've been physically threatened by the Evil Left. I think they'll need to fill those holsters soon.
Reply:Refreshing to see students not being brain washed by the Left .I my self am waiting to see this so called Gun that can load it self aim and kill a person all by it's self
Reply:You may chosen to think for yourself, but that doesn't mean actual thought has come out the other end.

You want MORE stressed out adolescents experimenting with drugs and alcohol to have guns?

Brilliant...
Reply:All those years of brainwashing down the drain. These students know what is right and will not be intimidated.

It is enough to make you want to go back to college.

A wingnut is slang for for a US Air Force Airmen. Although I was a Marine I hardly consider this an insult. If you are going to insult me you might call me a rightwing extremist; only problem is; I like it.
Reply:I'm reminded of the 101st Airborne Division that was tasked with holding the town of Bastogne during the Battle of the Bulge in WWII.

Out manned, out maneuvered and out gunned, they held their positions despite the overwhelming odds that were marshaled against them. Those soldiers became such an obstacle for the German advance that four Wehrmacht soldiers carried a white flag up to the American lines to ask the GI's to surrender.

The request was met by the now famous reply of "Nuts". When the men of the 101st heard General McAuliffe's answer, they were made proud and grew even more determined, for America had once again proven her greatness.

This reference is used because I know how lib infested Seattle is, and the pride and determination those patriotic youth have displayed is reminder that the indelible spirit of this wondrous nation will never give way to the leftist vermin.
Reply:It is about time they started to protest on campuses like this.

I bet the libs are pulling their hair out.

I say good for them do not be a victim.

Student resume?

As a college student who has had limited work experience and even fewer accomplishments, I feel like it would be impossible for me to dig up enough to put in a resume. What's more I don't really even know how to write one. But soon I will be looking for internships and possibly jobs and people will expect me to have a resume. Are there any websites or anything that are specifically for helping students write a good resume?

Student resume?
First, lets stop thinking in terms of having no accomplishments. You have made it into college and are at the point where internships are looming. Thats quite a major accomplishment.

Remember that employers don't expect a student to have tons of experience.

Here's how you write a resume. One or two pages is more than sufficient at your stage.

Have these categories.

1. Name and Contact Information.

2. Objective: "To locate an internship in my field of study (whatever that is)

3. Education

4. Work History. You say you have limited work history, so you must have some. Did you have a paper route? Babysit?

5. Volunteer Activities. This is where you need to spend some time thinking. Have you participated in school council or other commttees? Have you volunteered your time with any community organization or church? This is the place to have it.

6. Awards and Recognition. Mention any thing you may have achieved. Omit this if nothing comes to mind.

7. Skills and Abilities. Spend some time thinking about this. This suggests skills and abilities beyond what you are expected to have learned in your college courses. Do you have computer skills? That's very important these days. Have you shown leadership abilities in some way? Do you drive (if appropriate for the type of job you are applying for). Have you demonstrated people skills? Have you been a good team player?

Spend some time thinking about the employer and what they want to find in the person they hire for an internship. Does the position require someone who is highly organized, for example? If yes, find a way to fit that into your resume, in whichever category is most appropriate.

Every employer is looking for two things when they hire. They want someone who has the skills to do the job, and they want someone who will be a good fit for the workplace. In other words, find a way to show you won't be a nighmare to supervise and you'll be ahead of a lot of other applicants.

Good luck.
Reply:hey good morning - i just checked online - all i put into search bar was " resume writing help" hahaha anyway there are a ton - i thought there would be - free services- one even offers a free cover letter- which isn't totally nessaray but looks really good - sites i checked out offer examples and ideas. also don't forget to put and charity work you do that looks good too. good luck! you can do this!
Reply:Does your college have some sort of career center? That's where I would start.

Student Credit Cards?!?!?!?

What does it mean by 0% Intro APR* on Purchases for 6 Months?!?!? I'm thinking of getting a student credit card since I'm a student, A senior in high school, and I'll be leaving for college this coming fall, and I need a credit card, so I'm going to get one, but I don't understand the whole "APR" thing. What does it stand for? What's it's purpose?!?!?!

Student Credit Cards?!?!?!?
APR stands for annual percentage rate. It is the percentage of interest the credit card company charges you on the balance. A 0% APR for six months means for the first six months you have the card you will not be charged interest. However, interest will be charged on any outstanding balance after the first six months.

When comparing cards you should look at what the APR is following the introductory offer. Also it is never a good idea to carry a balance on a credit card. In other words pay off the balance each month if possible.
Reply:As far as the 0% APR for 6 months that means you will pay zero interest for 6 months. Look and see what the interest rate is AFTER the six months, which will be listed as the APR. I forgot exactly what the letters stand for but all credit card interest rates are listed APR, it is the way the interest is calculated. If the interest rate after the 6 mo is higher than around 10%, keep looking.
Reply:dont do it i cant stress that enough my bf got one and now he owes over 4,000 dollers it may say 0% but they only sweet talk you and then hook you its how they get paid
Reply:APR - Annual Percentage Rate. It is a good idea to open a credit account if you are responsible. Using a credit card and paying off the balance every month will build a good credit history and allow you to qualify for other loans in the future.

However, if you are not responsible and do not payoff the balance or think , oh I'll be able to catch up next month. Or if you think of it as a long term loan. Those are bad ideas. After the 6 months, the interest rate is probably around 20% a year. That's a lot of money to be paying for a loan. Not to mention, if you are late on a single payment, the late fees are usually pretty high, and the APR will probably go up to 30 or 40%!

It is really up to you, but the temptation is very great if you are not careful.

Good luck!

Student business ideas.?

Anyone have any ideas on a profit making online internet business a student can run within a University? What do students require?

Student business ideas.?
Well if you have some bucks in your hands or youre good at programming, may be you can start an online students community where students can create blogs, participate in forums, create hot or not photo profiles etc. You can generate a lot of advertising revenues just by doing this. But apart from little investment in development of this website, it will also require your dedication. I've done something similar for in my unvi. and enjoy a 4 digit income a month from my advertisers. But as I said it doesnt come for free. I spend at least 5 hours a day on the site to make it worthy. You can surely take my help you need, my blog address is xoail.com

Student Loan to study at BLCU?

I am a US citizen currently living in China and I want to study Chinese at Beijing Language and Culture University. I need a student loan to study there, but I don't know which one or if I can get a student loan for this school. If anyone has any information that would be great. Thanks

Student Loan to study at BLCU?
There are two sources for student loans -- the federal government and private lenders. In order to obtain most federal student loans, you will first need to file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). In most%26lt;!--instances the FAFSA is required for all federal financial aid including federal student loans. Deferment options are available while you are still attending school at least half-time. There are four main federal loan programs.

http://best-loans.awardspace.com/student...

Federal loan consolidation is for students who are in repayment status or parents who wish to extend the repayment period on their current PLUS and obtain a fixed interest rate for the life of the loan--%26gt;you can combine all of your eligible federal student loans into one loan with a Federal Consolidation Loan. Consolidating also locks the interest rate you pay on your loan.

Must I have a degree in education to go into student affairs?

Ok, I feel really really stupid for asking this, but I am a college sophomore who is absolutely out of gen ed classes and HAS to pick a major now.. earlier this semester I thought about social work, then I thought about business and like marketing... but one of my friends mentioned she is graduating this semester and going to get her masters in student affairs. And I thought what a great job that would be for me. I'm active in the student activites board here at my school and would love to work with students of any age, but not so much from the teaching aspect. So, my question is.. to get a degree in student affairs, must I have a bachelors in education, or can you get a masters in student affairs with other degrees. Can you work with high schools with a student affairs masters degree or does that limit you to only titles such as student activities director/dean of students/etc etc?

Must I have a degree in education to go into student affairs?
Check with the college which you plan to go to to do this course. Or ask your friend. She has probably already done some reserch to find out if it's for her.

Student affairs may involve stuff like guidance counsellor or something like that. If I'm correct you may be able to major in student affairs while undertaking a degree in wither social work or youth work. If you want to work with HS students I'd suggest Youth Work
Reply:I have a master's in student affairs, but my bachelors was in psychology. In my program, only a few (out of 20+) had education degrees.

I'm not sure about working in high schools so you might just want to check on that. I know working as a guidance couselor, they want you to have a "counseling" degree. Good luck.

I can get a student loan?

I am a junior right now, but I am curious about whether or not I will qualify for a student loan once I start college (an UC).

- I am Asian; greencard holder

- my parents make a total of $200,000 a year

- I will be 18 the summer before college

I have the impression that if my parents are "rich" enough to pay tuition, I will have a harder time getting a student loan.

However, once I turn 18, I will be considered an adult who is financially separate from my parents... Therefore, I would be actually considered "poor" right?

Can anyone tell me about how this works? My parents want to pay for my college so that I can concentrate on my studies, but I want to get a student loan and then pay it off myself.

SO, based on my information above, would I be able to get a student loan? What kind?

I can get a student loan?
This is a pretty standard question. Without spending too much time in a financial aid office, there is plenty you can do get the process started.

Start by going to http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/ and filling out the online form called the Free Application for Federal Student Aid. Everyone is eligible and it costs nothing. Just takes a few minutes. Federal Stafford loans are the best deal going. After finding out what you are eligible for in terms of subsidized stafford loans, you can figure out if that is enough to finance your tuition and expenses. In most cases, it isn't. If you find that you need more money then you are offered, you may want to try a private student loan.

The best thing to do is compare the different private lenders out there, which can be done at http://www.finaid.org/loans/privatestude...

Most of the rates are very similar but do a little research and pick one that you think is best. I would suggest Think Financial. The application process is very quick and easy, and the check is sent directly to you so you can use the money for whatever you want. The limits are much higher with private student loans, up to $40,000 per year. You can find out more information about a Think loan at http://www.thinkfinancial.com . Good Luck.
Reply:You and your parents need to go online and file a fafsa. The web page is www.fafsa.ed.gov. Make sure you select 08-09 and have you and your parents 07 tax return if you filed. You may not be elegable for grants, but on the application you can select loans. You should be able to get a stafford loan. And sorry but you won't be considered indepentent until you are 23 or 24 I can't remember which. You should also check out scholarship options.
Reply:There are many different websites out there that have knowledge on this subject.

I just did a google search and found this website :

A friend of many years is a Statefarm agent and I have been with him since I started driving my own car. I have had wonderful experience with Statefarm and highly recommend.

Last year I put a neighbor in touch with my agent and he established insurance with the "good student discount". A waiver is signed by the student and parent/guardian if under 21. The waiver is sent to the school and the school automatically sends grades to Statefarm.

Good Luck, drive safely, stay positive.
Reply:Well, I guess it can vary by state. Most colleges now have an online system that the student logs into to see the grades. You can print that and that is satisfactory (in PA anyway). Or, there is a form that you can get and take to the registrar or dean and have them sign saying you meet the requirements listed, or if you made the deans list, you can show the letter stating that and that's fine. Ask you agent. He/she will be able to tell you the requirements of the state you are in. Just keep in mind, if the online system doesn't incorporate your name or some type of identification, it may not be acceptable and you will need to use one of the other forms.
Reply:How funny. I work at Farmers Insurance. What they do is they get your most current grades (i.e. if your insurance was just renewed or will be renewed somewhere near in future, you would show them the semester or quarter you just completed). It's a piece of cake. You either send in or fax your grades to your agent and they scan it into the computer for evaluation by the company. Good luck!
Reply:I will never use State Farm again, Ever!

Student Loans?

I will be attending San Francisco State University in the fall and want to live off campus. My parents are going to pay for my tuition/books etc. but i need a student loan to pay for my living costs. I will probably need to borrow about $40,000 for all four years. Where is the best place to get a student loan with low intrest and repayment until after graduation?

Student Loans?
Firstly and most importnantly, you need to fill out your FAFSA. You can do this on http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/ This is a Gov't aid that you do not have to pay back. You need to apply for a pin to sign it online. It will have all your instructions on the website to do so. It's been so long since I've gotten my pin I can't remember enough to tell you for sure how to do that. They will give you an EFC number after a few days of applying and submitting it ONLINE. If you file, print and send... it could take WEEKS.. and I highly do not recomend that. Deadlines are comming up for all schools, so you need to do it quickly.

FAFSA works like this:

Your EFC (Expected Family Contribution) is a number that FAFSA, when they process your application, they give to your school. That's all they handle is processing your application.

Now, its all up to your school.

After they process your FAFSA, they send your school of choice a Student Aid Report (SAR). On the student aid report will have all the aid that you qualify for as well as all your information. Your school will tell you if you qualify for the Pell Grant along and Stafford Loans.

Your school will have a set amount that they give each student with whatever their SAR says. The ones with 0's for the EFC will recieve the maximum amount of financial aid.

The lower the EFC, the more Aid you get.

Your school should send you an Award Letter stating how much you will recieve on your Financial aid, Pell grant, anyother grant that you qualify for, and how much you are aloud to borrow in federal loans that they can give you.

Contact your school financial aid and make sure they recieved your SAR (mine didn't and I'm very lucky I called). Also talk to them about any other outstanding questions you might have, along with when you may recieve your Award Letter from them with all that information. You may also ask them how much you will recieve from financial aid if you get the full amount to maybe give you an idea on how much you'll recieve. Don't do all that until you can see what your EFC is on the internet. You can do that by going to this website:

http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/FOTWWebApp/stude...

As a part time student, you will not recieve as much as a fulltime. Your school has a set tuition, and it kind of goes off of that.

Next, ask your financial aid office what kind of scholarships they offer to you. You can usually apply for them at the office, or they may have applications you can print off of the internet and send in to them. I would do this quite quickly as well, because deadlines are comming up.

Contact local clubs, businesses, and even your boss (if you work) to ask if they have any avaliable scholarships you may qualify for. Places like these like to give scholarships because they can use it as a tax write-off on the following year taxes.

Also, your local library should have all the information you need on whats avaliable as well.

Lastly, when you have your award letter and know how much you will be recieving for aid, you can talk to your financial aid adviser about student loans. There are federal student loans out there that are very helpful and low in interest to no interest at all.

http://www.salliemae.com/get_student_loa...

that's the most informational website about federal student loans. I would start there, and if you need more, you could go to a private student loan provider. but first, they have wayyy better interest rates and everything else.

check with your financial aid office, they'll have very good references on student loans as well. They actually can probably provide you with a loan through them.

Hope this helps!
Reply:Look into your banking provider's loans. Sometimes if you already have an account with them you can get a good rate.

I went with bank of america. Wachovia I heard is one of the best. Make sure you research. Also apply for fafsa cause they usually include loan packages as well. :]
Reply:There are two sources for student loans -- the federal government and private lenders.

Student Loans?

I was wondering if Student Loans are easy to get. I don't have good credit at all and I'm looking into starting up my 2nd year in college. Will I need a cosigner with bad credit for a student loan?

Student Loans?
Are you talking about federal or private loans? Definitely try federal loans first, because they're meant to help students (i.e. bad credit/no credit, unemployed) and have the lowest rates. More info on federal loans here:

http://www.tuitionbids.com/student-loan-...

If you tried that already and still need more money, there are private loans, but if you don't have good credit and you're not employed, you will need a cosigner (especially if you're applying with a legitimate lender). The company I represent, http://www.tuitionbids.com, lets you apply to 6 accredited lenders with one application. You'll still need a cosigner, but at least you'll be killing 6 birds with 1 stone. Since the banks compete for business, you're more likely to get approved.

Good luck!
Reply:apply for federal student loans at http://fafsa.ed.gov

You do not need a cosigner or pass a credit check to get federal loans.

Student ...in trouble with bank...need advice!!?

hi im 19 year old student and i was a bit to happy go lucky with my money when i first started uni. iv definitely learnt my lesson as this week i havnt had money for food, my accomodation came out and i went over my overdraft limit.

what id like to know is how do i get myself out of a situation with the bank where they charge me for going over my limit...which leads to going more over my limit...which leads to more charges. its a vicous circle im scared to get stuck into and im not sure that they are justified in charging me?

also please dont tell me to get a job as i am waiting to hear from lots of applications so i am trying!

also with my student account my overdraft which is currently set at £1250 can be extended to £2700 at the most. do you think its wise to ask the bank to extend my overdraft about £200 pound to stop incurring these charges? and will they allow me to given my situation ?

helppppp

Student ...in trouble with bank...need advice!!?
You need to get out of debt from the bank for starters. They will keep pounding fees on top of you. The best advice I can think of is to take a loan to get your account right. Then, hopefully you can get a job somewhere to pay back the loan. At 19 and no job, a loan may be hard to come by. I would suggest you look into social lending. Check out this site where you can get a loan and a nice 3-year term so you don't have to pay it all back right away, https://secure.lendingclub.com/landing.a... . Free to sign up. so you don't have to worry about a catch. If you sign up and it is not for you, then nothing is lost. Good luck my friend.

Student resume!!?

Okay so I'm a student in high school, and I really want this job at this little book store by my house. But I've never written a resume before, and I have no clue what to do or put???

I've had one job before, and that was cashier at a grocery store. I've also done babysitting and stuff like that.

But what should I put??

What do they expect for a student?

Thanks.

Student resume!!?
I would list your previous employment starting with the most recent experience and then go backwards. You are also going to need your contact info.

If you are completely clueless about how to do a resume, then either get a book from the library or try to use a template. Some programs, such as microsoft word/works, have templates that you can follow.
Reply:Are you sure this is the type of job that requires a resume? You should go in and ask for an application, most likely you will not need to give them a resume

Student beating up a teacher?

I was appalled yesterday when I heard on the news that a student beat up a teacher for no darn reason. The teacher was on the Today show and she said the girl came up to her %26amp; said, "I'm going to hit you" The teacher said "If you hit me, I will defend myself" What is happening with today's youth? This teacher said no one is allowed to discipline these kids %26amp; that's why they do it because they can get away with it. Has the system failed us? Only in America. Oh, the kid was only suspended for a couple of days, and the teacher was told by the Principal that she provoked the student by saying she would defend herself. What's she supposed to do. sit there %26amp; take it?

Student beating up a teacher?
Something needs to be done where the students can have an outlet for their frustrations. Like having a grievance system set up for them to complain about what they don't like.
Reply:I saw that too - did you notice that the teacher said the student was still there when she (the teacher) was taken to a clinic? Why didn't someone, some school official etc call the Police?
Reply:It's not as new as many think.

I had a brother-in-law who was principal in FL., back in the 50s.

He had been in the army, was 6'6.

Had to wrestle a knife from a high schooler.
Reply:The education system sucks. The way i look at it and you may be offended, but educators end up running the system. I think that is our issue. I think it should be business men. Educators are there to educate kids, business men take care of the rest.
Reply:Well, she should have followed through and defended herself. If she got carried out on a stretcher, she didn't do a very good job of it!

I'm not sure where this happened, but many places have imposed zero-tolerance policies on physical (or even verbal sometimes) violence and the student will be given one chance then removed for the rest of their life. I feel like that is harsh, but appropriate in this day %26amp; age.

The principal was way off base, but what do you expect....most educators are at the bottom of their classes and most school administrators became such because they couldn't even handle teaching, so they're like the bottom 1% of the population! Oh well, what can you do? Fight the teachers' unions? Good luck.

I understand some people are bad parents, but that is no excuse for teachers not doing their jobs in general. An entire class of out-of-control failures cannot be blamed on parents. They cannot possibly ALL be bad parents.....not to mention, many teachers who actually have a talent for their craft can get even the most unruly students, from the worst homes, to excel. However, in this situation of physical violence, it is clearly a law-enforcement issue, and an issue of enforcing school policies that do not allow violence of any sort, no matter how good or bad the parents/teachers are.
Reply:I agree with everyone here....this is all bulls**t!!

But what we are doing here is blaming the schools, which yes they have something todo with there not being enough punishment.

But where the problem starts is at home, with the parents. So maybe parents shouldn't have kids if they aren't going to discipline them correctly. Parents need to be more strict about punishing kids and guiding them. Some parents don't give kids enough attention, they tend to go look for it somewhere else.
Reply:One time this kid at school was smart mouthing the teacher trying to be a badazz. Well I can't really remember what happened but he was wearing pants with really long chains on them and he tried to hit the teacher or something and the teacher grabbed the chains and wrapped them around the kids neck and basically choked the mess out of that kid. The kid deserved it. Great thing is, the teacher didn't get in trouble.
Reply:I think it's atrocious what kids are allowed to get away with these days. No wonder they are the way they are and why the schools are sometimes more like a war zone than an educational facility.

Hopefully that teacher will file charges against the student on her own and then sue the school, and the principal personally, for failing to maintain a safe working environment. Maybe that will help send a message that enough is enough.
Reply:That girl has anger issues that need to be addressed. If she was on a mission to purposely attack the teacher, then by all means that teacher should defend herself by any means necessary.

I agree. I am getting extremely worried about today's youth. 2 weeks ago, third graders were plotting to kill their teacher. Last week 8 teenagers ranging from ages 14-18 were charged with beating up a 16 year old girl. And this week we have this. If this country would stop being so darn PC about raising kids, then kids today can lead a normal childhood.
Reply:That's crap. I would knock the sh*t out of that kid, so they wouldn't ever say that again.

We have corporal punishment here and i support it.

GOD BLESS Texas
Reply:So many parents have tied the hands of the teachers and the school systems by defending their children even for brutish behavior. You are right, that brat should have been tossed into a juvenile system rather than a few days suspended. Did you notice anyone helping the teacher? No, instead they filmed it as if they were watching a movie or playing a video game. The class should be disciplined as well. I wouldn't step one foot back into a classroom where I didn't have control and a school system to back me up. This is horrible.

Student ambassadors?
You're nominated by teachers, counselors, or friends.
Reply:They picked you because you could reach out to the other kids like you. They pick it by putting kids into groups based on their characteristics and randomly pick 1 person from each group.

Student Loan Help?

Is there any type of help for people with student loans? I have 2k in student loans that has to be paid in full before I can ever go back to school, and I can't come up with this without it taking me a year or longer. I have pretty shabby credit, so loans isn't an option, and my parents aren't capable of helping me. Are there any programs out there to assist people with paying loans, so that they can go back to school, or is this virtually impossible? I need help on this greatly, because I need to go back to school.

Student Loan Help?
yes. The program is called employment. If it's not enough, its called a second job.
Reply:$2000 really isn't much at all. Are you already working? If not, get a seasonal/part-time/temporary job. If you can work full-time you will have this paid off in a few months, just in time for Fall semester.

What kind of rights does a student have in relation to rights of privacy?

A little podunk town in texas has a college called Angelina College that requires Nursing students to do extensive back ground checks, credit checks, etc. The college does not do these tests. They have a company that does extensive tests and can do with that information whatever they want to. The college will keep the information in your student records that are not secure and the school makes all the students sign a waver saying the student knows that the school is not responsible for anything that happens in the case of someone using that information against the student. So if someone uses my social security number or anything else, I can never hold the school responsible. Is there any way I can prevent them from getting all this information? I do not have anything in my background that I am ashamed of, but the fact that I am totaly being exploited and I have to pay for it pisses me off.

What kind of rights does a student have in relation to rights of privacy?
You always a choice. First and foremost, you can simply refuse the background check. If the school says you cannot attend without the background check, then you can choose another school.

Now if the school conducted an unauthorized background check without your knowledge, that's a different story. But here the school is admitting they do background checks, and you have a choice to say yes or no. Given that you do have a choice, I think it's a real stretch to say the school is "exploiting" you.

What if a universtiy student begins to date a high school Teacher, is that legal?

Seriously. People say it's wrong for teachers to have a relationship with students. What if the student doesn't belong to the teachers school or the student belongs to a university. The teacher holds no power over the student. So does that still make it illegal.

If you answer please use reason and try to use proof if you can find it.

This is a totally random thought and I wish to know the legal answer for it

What if a universtiy student begins to date a high school Teacher, is that legal?
It's not illegal even if the two are in the same classroom. No one's going to jail unless the student is underage.

But it is *unethical* because it destroys the authority structure in the classroom. It increases the possibility of favoritism, blackmail, and general tension among everyone involved. Teachers can be fired for it, but that's because of these ethical reasons, not any legal ones.

If the teacher and student are not in a power relationship, then it probably doesn't matter -- but there are still possible issues. There might be other friends or acquaintances involved in one classroom or the other. Or there might be a drastic age difference that would cause problems in any relationship, especially if others don't approve of it.

But no, we don't need to come up with a legal answer, because it's not a legal matter. Dating between a student and teacher of legal age is not prohibited by law.
Reply:Age is the biggest factor here. If the student in not over 18 well that it is illegal.

Still even if the student was 18 many would look down on the relationship. The older adult would in many people eyes be taking advantage of the younger inexperienced adult. Life is about learning and time does play a factor.
Reply:Once a student is out of High School, he or she may have relations with a High School teacher. I have not tried to find any proof of this, but while I was in High School, a former student who had graduated the year past, was dating one of our teachers %26amp; got her pregnant. Therefore, I do believe that it IS legal.

Student loans?

I have a private student loan, and have been considering to file bankruptcy. I also have a co borrower on this loan as well. Would declaring bankrupt on my credit, affect his as well, (would he not be responsible) or would he still have to pay for the student loan.

Student loans?
The whole point of a cosigner is that they will pay if you don't, so your cosigner would have to also file bankruptcy to get out of any primary obligation for the debt. If he didn't pay, it would affect his credit. Bankruptcy will also affect your credit, I hope you know--like for 7 or 8 years. It's a better idea (if you have not already done this) 1- to work with a non-profit consumer credit counseling (CCC) service, which will renegotiate your debts and your payments with your creditors, OR 2- to work out something with your creditors, youself. Depending on how many creditors you have, it would take you more time to do it yourself than to work through a CCC. You would need to work with a CCC service before defaulting on any of your bills, I think. Often your student lenders will allow you periods of forebearance, which you might check into. It's all better than filing for bankruptcy, as that can also cost you jobs. It is an indication to an employer that you are not good with your own resources, which they assume means you will not be a good steward of theirs. Really think about it. It's not a get-out-of-debt-free card. There are long-term consequences.
Reply:Student Loans follow you through the bankruptcy. If you have a co-signer it will hurt his credit. Have you considered forbearance? Do you have a lot of collections? Check into other solutions before filing bankruptcy. Check out http://www.perfectcreditcompany.com
Reply:It sounds like a not easy cracking nut, have a look here, you should find something useful for you.http://studentloan.online-helpers.info/s...

"End of Ban on Federal Student Aid for Most Online Institutions Provokes Few Changes" By Dan Carnevale Jan 19, 2007

The Chronicle of Higher Education

Six months after the demise of a rule that had prevented most online institutions from participating in federal financial-aid programs, few colleges have taken advantage of the change. . . . Michael P. Lambert, executive director of an accrediting agency called the Distance Education and Training Council, said colleges do not want to rush into Title IV eligibility, for fear of making a mistake. They want to make sure they can handle the requirements first, he said. "We are going about this very slowly and very deliberately," Mr. Lambert said. "Consequently our schools are taking their time." Is this accurate?

Student Aid changes have any impact on colleges having greater numbers of students?
Yes, there have been many changes in the way federal student aid is administered in addition to online classes. The rules are much stricter now for who will be awarded aid. They want the aid to go to those students who plan to use it towards a complete education and an upwardly mobile career. Talk to a financial aid counselor (they even have them online) for more information.

Student visa?

I have an exchange student coming from Germany and she needs a student visa. Does anyone know how long it would take?

she was hoping to come this fall if possible!

thanks!!

Student visa?
it depends on the school she will attend and the local consulate in germany. the school needs to issue an I-20, and it is something that some schools do on the spot (not always, but it is pretty common)... it depends on the school and program she is trying to attend... and also, they need some kind of down-payment before they can issue the I-20... if it is a college, she'd have to apply, etc... which might take more time.

with the I-20 she has to go to the consulate in germany and the visa gets issued... usually pretty fast too, but it might have changed due to the homeland security money-business.

hope that helps

Student discounts at apple store?

i want to buy this macbook from apple: http://www.apple.com/uk/macbook/macbook....

i am a student studying at a london university and i know that students can get like a 30% discount, is there anyone who knows how to go about getting a discount using the online apple online store.

Student discounts at apple store?
Yup, you can get around 8% discount at the apple store, I bought my Ipod from there. All you do is call up the number on the site and they'll ask you which uni you are from etc and may ask for an NUS number (although they didn't ask for mine!) not as great a discount but at least it's something. You can do it online but your computer must be linked to the university intranet for it to work. Hope this helps!
Reply:Apple does offer discounts on its computers and iPods for students. If you go to http://store.apple.com/Apple/WebObjects/... Enter your school name and city and it will take you to a page with the discounted computer prices. Hope this helps.
Reply:www.apple.com/students/store

that store has student discountes.

Student loan Consolidation.?

I would like to know if you can get non related loans consolidated into your student loan? For example personal and credit cards.

I would like to reconsolidate my student loan and get locked in at a good rate.

All answers are appreciated.

Eddie.

Student loan Consolidation.?
I am concerned that you would be considering consolidating your outside debt with your Federal Student Loan debt. It is possible to consolidate the two together but I would advise against doing this.

The reason I would advise against doing this is if you consolidate your Federal Student Loans with your non student loan debt you will lost all of your Federal benefits you have on your Student Loans; for example, Forbearance, unlimited in school Deferment time, and your Federal Subsidies.

Have you taken out any new Federal Student Loans since you did your last Student Loan Consolidation? If you have you have in fact reconsolidate your Federal Student Loans by adding the new loans into your existing consolidation. The new rate you would receive would be based on a Weighted Average of your existing consolidation rate along with the rates on your new loans.

For more information on benefits of Federal Student Loans please visit the source below.
Reply:They are different consolidation loans.

Student loans?

Can someone tell me the easiest way to apply for private student loans. I need a loan to help pay for housing since my university doesn't provide it to all students. I obviously want to find the lowest interest rate but am having trouble locating a site that lets me compare them. I have an excellent credit score so I won't need a cosigner. Any information would be useful thanks!

Student loans?
I think you want a private loan to cover the cash requirements needed for your cost of living expenses.

Student loans are only there to cover the costs of education. You must complete a FAFSA and go through your student aid office in order to determine eligibility and loan amount. Then that amount is applied to your semester bill directly (they don't just send you a check). Any amount that you accepted that was over the tuition amount will be refunded to you in the form of a check.

However, if you want a short term private loan you can go to your bank and ask for a line of credit extended on your account to help ends meet if you are short of cash.

Student Loan?

When I graduated from college, my student loan didn't go through for the last semester. I now owe directly to the college. My question is what kind of loan should I take out to cover this cost? Should it be a student loan or should it be a regular bank loan?

Student Loan?
My understanding is that you can not get a student loan unless you are still in school. I do not think they offer a loan to pay for school costs retroactively. But your financial aid office at the school can tell you that. The advantage of the student loan is the lower interest rates. But if that is not an option, your financial aid office has a list of lenders that may help you cut through red tape. Good Luck.
Reply:I would say a student loan if your still able to since you graduated. If you own a house and have equity, that would be another way to go. There is always a regular bank loan - personal loan - if all else fails. Stay away from thosesmall loan agents.
Reply:Well, you need search, I found interesting information about your answer, college loans with low interests, scholarships, college grants here. http://all-student-loan-consolidation.bl...

Student Loan????

I am thinking to apply for a student loan and before i do I want to ask a couple of questions. I want to apply for a loan at student loans.com

Is it easy to apply there?

What is required to apply for a low interest loan?

How long does it take for them to approve my application?

Do i have to give them a reason for taking out a loan?

If approved, do they send a check?

thank you.

Student Loan????
Yes, it is easy to apply at that site. First of all, you need to be accepted or enrolled in a college or university. You also need to be a US citizen or resident and have filled out the FAFSA. It doesn't take long for them to approve your application for a Federal Stafford Loan. The CitiAssist loan however, requires you to have good credit and a steady job. As well as the previously listed requirements.

Is taking large private student loans a good idea?

Here is my situation:

So I have been accepted to OSU as an out of state student and I really wannt go there. But it costs about 30k a year (everything included) and my family isnt low incone/middle class and I wanna get the hell outta my state (wisconsin). I know I will get some FAFSA aid and maybe a couple scholarships. That means I might have to take up to 60-80k in student loans

1. Is that considered a lot for student loans?

2. Is it a good idea?

3. How long do you usully have to pay it off? and do you start paying after you complete college or right away?

4. what is an average intrest rate for student loans?

Is taking large private student loans a good idea?
If you're talking about going to The Ohio State University and not another OSU... You're right, it's a great school and let me be the first to welcome you to Buckeye Nation.

While you'll get a great education and it will serve you well throughout your life, it is important to do so with some financial responsibility. As was pointed out, it's not a good idea to take on more debt than you can handle after graduation.

But, I would say if you are willing to do what needs to be done you can get the degree at the school you want while being responsible.

Here's the steps you have to take:

Apply for federal student loans, you already know about fafsa, so I won't go into detail about this, take as much as you can.

You think you may get a scholarship or two, that is a start, but be sure to apply for every scholarship you can. Seek out local business people and local civic organizations. Ask if they have any type of scholarships. Find scholarship sites online and apply, apply and apply some more. The major scholarship engines are listed and reviewed at http://www.reviewscholarships.com/ Also look for help from alumni in providing scholarships, contact the school to see if they can put you in touch with any.

Work / study while this is not an easy thing to do, you can still work while in college and make enough to cover some basic living expenses. This means you will have to borrow less. Contact the school to see if they have any programs that you would be able to get into, again, use any alumni contacts you can find to help you with a job. (unless you get an athletic scholarship!) On a trip to the area try to find places that hire college students, talk with the managers. You'll likely be looking at retail and food service... you aren't doing this as a career, but it's good experience and you can make decent money working part time.

Finally the private student loans. They do have a higher interest rate and they do require a positive credit and employment/income history. You may find you need a co-signor to get one. There isn't really an average interest rate as these are not provided by one source. Each lender has their own guidelines and terms. Payment for private loans are like federal loans in one way, they start 6 months after you leave school. NEVER borrow more than you need.

You should apply at several just to get a feel for what each lender can offer. You don't need to apply for these types of loans now, they only take a couple weeks to process. Just bookmark this and come back when you are ready. A couple I'd recommend trying when you're ready are Student Loan Advisors at http://www.StudentLoanAdvisors.com and Chase bank, they have a private lending department you can reach online through http://www.usadegrees.com/ but again try these only when you're set with your federal loans and scholarships. You do not want to borrow more than you have to. Good luck with your education! O.H.
Reply:The whole "better school out-of-state" situation always makes me laugh because - for every kid in Wisconsin going to Ohio because it's "a better school" there is a kid in Ohio going to a school in Wisconsin because it's "a better school".

Is that "grass is always greener on the other side of the fence" attitude really worth 30X4 years = $129,000 potential loan and payments of $1,200 a month when you graduate?

Good rule of thumb when borrowing is never borrow more (total for 4 years) than you would expect to earn your first year upon graduating. With your degree could you easily get a job making 120,000 a year immediately? If not, you won't be able to afford those payments. If you would expect to earn say 40,000 a year after you graduate, then borrow no more than that amount over the course of your college career. (Payments would be about 400 a month)

You will not be able to borrow that much in federal student loans. (Max amount to borrow as a freshman is 3500 per year- yes you can go to school with this amount) so you'd have to go to private student loans which require credit checks, cosigners, high interest rates and high destination fees. These loans are substandard and evil.

Save your money and go to an in state school. Take out the big loans for grad school.

Good Luck.
Reply:I think 60-80k in loans is an awfully large amount, however it isn't too much in this case because you are borrowing it to expand your profession. Once you reach your goals you will be able to pay it all back in the long run. You also have to be careful when applying for a loan because not all loans are good loans. A good loan program will grant you your desired amount and begin charging you not only after you finish school but when you start you profession.

Student visa problem???

I'm planning to apply for UK student visa for my Masters. However, my husband and I are TTC at the same time. If I get pregnant, will my student visa be rejected?

Student visa problem???
The requirements for a UK Student Visa are that you have acceptance into a recognised UK degree course and are able to financially support yourself and your dependents without access to government funds (i.e. you wouldn't be reliant on welfare). This does not mean you are not allowed to work as you will be allowed to work 20 hours per week during term time and your husband will be allowed to work without restriction.

Nowhere on the application does it ask if you're looking to expand your family, they just ask for proof that you are able to pay for yourself. For more information on UK student visas check out the UK government's site about it:

http://www.ukvisas.gov.uk/servlet/Front?...

I applied to study for a Masters in the UK with what I thought was sub-par documentation of my financial support, but I still received my Visa and have been over here 3 years now!
Reply:As far as I understand,Pregnency shouldnt be grounds for UK visa denial. But they might ask you more questions like how are u raise the child and stuff

Student Loan Deferment!?

I need to know if I can get my student loans deferred. I can't find a straight answer anywhere. I have already graduated with a bachelors degree and i have been paying on my student loans for two years. I am going back to school this fall but not sure if I can get them deferred. Some places i've read that I have to be in graduate school. Can somebody give me a straight answer?

Student Loan Deferment!?
As long as you're attending school at least half-time, you're eligible for an In-School Deferment for your Federal Stafford and Federal Perkins loans. The regulations do not specify that you be in graduate school. You can download a copy of the Stafford deferment form here: http://ifap.ed.gov/dpcletters/attachment...

Just fill it out, ask your school to certify your enrollment status in Section 4 (usually the Registrar's Office does this), and return it to the lender. If you have loans with multiple lenders, it's in your best interest to send a form to each lender.

To defer any Perkins loans, contact the loan holder directly (usually Perkins Loans are held by the school that lent you the money). Perkins loans tend to have less stringent deferment/forbearance benefits than Stafford, so getting an in-school deferment shouldn't be difficult.

All private educational loans are not created equal, so, if you have one, it's best to check with the lender to see what their terms are. Most major lenders are more than willing to defer your loans while you are enrolled 1/2-time or more. Check their website for instructions and, if you find none, give them a call.
Reply:Most loans get deferred while in the Army and the Army pays them off in 3 years, up to $65,000. Report It

Reply:I have defered all my student loans for the past four years and

I send into the fedral goverment for free money in order to pay them all back it is easy.

yes you can defer if you would like more info email me .
Reply:It depends on the type of student loans you have, so you need to talk to your lender. Generally though, if your student loans are federally-subsidized, you can apply for deferrment if you are going back to school. You do have to be taking a certain number of credits in order to qualify, though. I *believe* it's half-time or better.
Reply:To see if the loans can qualify for a deferment, I would suggest checking with the lender / servicer of the loan(s). Generally federal student loans can be deferred if the person is enrolled at least half-time status. No, a person does not have to be in graduate school for this. A person with a degree who returns to school to possibly work towards a second undergraduate degree may qualify for a deferment through their lender / servicer as long as the person is enrolled in a college at least half-time status. For example, if a student will be enrolled at a school that is a credit hour school and the person takes six credit hours, as long as the school classifies six credit hours as half-time status, then the student would need to notify and request their lender / servicer to put the loan(s) into deferment status if he / she so wishes. They have many different types of deferments for student loans and even forbearances. Be sure to check with your lender / servicer to see what your options may be.
Reply:Yes you can. I'm going to school now and my loans are being deferred. As long as you go at least 6 credits at a time. Also, don't stop making payments until your financial aid office has contacted your loan company to tell them you're in school.
Reply:All you need to do is be enrolled in school CURRENTLY to have them deferred. So all you should have to do is make a request once you are actually enrolled and they should grant it.
Reply:Yes, they will defer your loans while you are back in school. make sure you contact them and fill out the proper forms. One of my loans made me do the paper work every semester, so keep up on all of that.

Good luck.
Reply:I currently work in a financial aid office. Your school should automatically put you into deferment with your lender. But if for some reason they don't, there is a form online from your lender's website called "In-School Deferment" form that's always your backup in case. You just have to be enrolled in a degree seeking program to get them defered.
