Six months after the demise of a rule that had prevented most online institutions from participating in federal financial-aid programs, few colleges have taken advantage of the change. . . . Michael P. Lambert, executive director of an accrediting agency called the Distance Education and Training Council, said colleges do not want to rush into Title IV eligibility, for fear of making a mistake. They want to make sure they can handle the requirements first, he said. "We are going about this very slowly and very deliberately," Mr. Lambert said. "Consequently our schools are taking their time." Is this accurate?

Yes, there have been many changes in the way federal student aid is administered in addition to online classes. The rules are much stricter now for who will be awarded aid. They want the aid to go to those students who plan to use it towards a complete education and an upwardly mobile career. Talk to a financial aid counselor (they even have them online) for more information.
