Student visa?

I have an exchange student coming from Germany and she needs a student visa. Does anyone know how long it would take?


she was hoping to come this fall if possible!

it depends on the school she will attend and the local consulate in germany. the school needs to issue an I-20, and it is something that some schools do on the spot (not always, but it is pretty common)... it depends on the school and program she is trying to attend... and also, they need some kind of down-payment before they can issue the I-20... if it is a college, she'd have to apply, etc... which might take more time.





with the I-20 she has to go to the consulate in germany and the visa gets issued... usually pretty fast too, but it might have changed due to the homeland security money-business.
