Student nursers?
I think it would be okay as long as she is being supervised %26amp; isnt involved in anything major. Unfortunately they have to learn somehow %26amp; practicing on live humans is prolly alot easier than using cadevars. I guess it depends on your comfort level. I would ask what exactly what she would be involved in %26amp; making sure there is always someone more experienced right over her shoulder at all times. I would stipulate however that she not be involved with your baby. I had a new nurse try %26amp; get a blood sample from my daughter when she was an infant(%26amp; I guess she didnt get to practice on real people before or something %26amp; she was unsupervised) %26amp; this idiot woman could not find her vein...she mustve stuck my poor child about 5 times before I told her in no uncertian terms that the next try would be her last %26amp; if she didnt do it right I would take the needle from her %26amp; practice on her(the nurse) myself. Needless to say, she found it. But like I said, I would ask for as much detailed information as possible %26amp; if you arent comfortable with it, then politely say no. Giving birth is stressful enough, the last thing you need to worry about is some student accidentally killing you.
Reply:I delivered both ym children at a "teaching hospital" and had students and residents in the room. I felt comfortable with it because I knew not only did I have my regular doctors and nurses but people who were learning some of the newest things so if something went wrong, there was more help in the room. We will be having our next baby at the same hospital and I look forward to it. Also the student nurses tend to be more helpful at getting mom and dad something if asked because they need something to do.
Reply:Usually they can only watch, so it's up to you.
Reply:Its totally up to you. I am a nurse %26amp; just think, that student could be taking care of you some day as a nurse, %26amp; so wouldn't you want them to get the experience. Whatever you decide is fine. I know I appreciated those people who let me skare in their experiences. You can set limitations, like they can only watch or help get to the bathroom, etc.

Reply:Let them, they won't do much, and it is educational for them.
