Christian College Student struggling, no bashing faith, just an answer please.?

I am currently an online student at a prominent Christian university. As a Christian myself I decided to go there for a "like-minded" learning environment. Right now I've declared a major in Psychology and they just recieved another major-Biblical Counseling. The courses I have been taken are hard in their terminology and seem to be very heady, with brief mentions of God and Christ and when they are mentioned its cast in a light that is non-chalant. The two classes I just took I did fairly well in however my theology and two philosophy classes are proving the better of me. I have 2 years of junior college underneath me and I'm used to studying, reading, etc, but for being Christian, to me they seem to be dancing all around it and want us, the students, to grasp scholarship terminology within the first semester of undergraduate courses. Any advice for me and other students? Also, have you ever had a textbook where the editor/author, refer to their own ideas and theories in the textbook?
